Little Hoot

A few different readers have sent me copies of this darling children’s book about a young owl who finds it unfair that he is forced to stay up late when all of his friends get to go to bed early. Not only is it a great use of reverse psychology — when the owl’s parents finally let him go to bed they are more excited than he is to read stories, they are the ones stalling by suggesting he needs a drink of water — but the illustrations are also deadly cute. I’m always hoping Leta chooses this story to read at bedtime so I can say, see! Next time you complain about your bedtime just remember all those poor little owls out there being forced to stay up and play for another hour. BE GLAD YOU’RE NOT AN OWL.
