Marlo Iris Armstrong
7lbs. 15oz.
21 inches long
born at 1:53 AM, 06/14/2009, her official due date
Her middle name was chosen to honor Jon's aunt Iris who passed away last summer, a generous, gentle woman whose life was filled with all sorts of music. Her first name? Well, it just kicks a lot of ass.
Marlo looks remarkably more like a Hamilton than an Armstrong and probably resembles my father more than anyone else. Although, she has an incredibly deep dimple on the left side of her face, something she inherited from two of Jon's sisters.
Leta looked very much like a frog when she was a newborn. Marlo looks like a glowworm.
Labor was an absolute thrill ride that I will write about in detail later this week, but first I need to get some sleep, not easy when this baby takes to picketing and lobbying congress when removed from my boob.
You may call her Marlo, Lo, Lil Donette, or Butternut Boo.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and prayers. It's been a blast having you all along for the ride.

My son turned two weeks old today. I look forward to reading your adventures with Marlo and seeing if I'm having the same adventures with Marley, as they are so close in age.
Also, I completely understand the fact that the boobs are no longer your own. I highly recommend Lansinoh lanolin. It's a wonder for sore or chapped nipples. Their breast pads are a miracle as well. I haven't leaked through my shirt yet.

It's funny too as for a second I thought you were serious about the thrill ride of birth and got a bit jealous! I gave birth to my second son Sweeney (another cool name, well I reckon it is!) six and half weeks ago so can't wait to hear you birth story. Congratulations! What a gorgeous baby. I had 2 on their due dates--someone told me that only 3% of babies are born on their dates. Not sure if it's true or not.
Do not be fooled by the baby looking more like you this time. Our first daughter looks so much like my husband that if I wasn't there at her birth I'd be worried she wasn't mine. Our 2nd daughter looked like me/my family to begin with, which was nice. She has morphed into my husband's double--I now realize how much our older daughter does look like my family.
Congratulations again, well done. She is just exquisite and her name is so beautiful. So happy for your family!
