todays post is so hilarious. The image of Chuck hobbling around not knowing whether to be sick or poop makes me laugh out loud. What is incredibly impressive, however, is his ability to wake up the owners and get outside BEFORE he puked. That's one clever dog.

Yeah, my cat is the indoor/outdoor variety. One warm summer night I was enjoying a good sleep with the window open. I was startled awake around 2 a.m. by the wild screams of a cat fight right outside said open window. I looked out to see my Reggie in a ferocious fight with a tabby cat almost twice Reggie's size. I ran out to save Reggie, only realizing I was naked when the neighbor's light turned on to see what the hell was making all that *&^%(@! noise at this ungodly hour. The light and my scream at being discovered naked by the neighbor scared that big tabby away.
My coworkers are looking at me strangely while I laugh uncontrollably at your "cute" entry. My 1-month-older-than-Leta daughter does the same thing with our THREE dogs. She's also discovered that they are much more efficient at cleaning her little hands than any napkin. Alas, we too are to blame for initially encouraging this "cute" behavior.

We have the blog exchange once a month where we send each other stuff. I sent Striz some magnets, a blog post it note pad, a magic 8 ball (truth or dare version) and a catalog for the Nikon D70.
I had to go to the Nikon store to get it though, but it was worth it.
(I got to check out some new filters for my camera!!)

Poor Chuck. Our dog once pulled a pork chop bone out of the trash and it got stuck somewhere along the pipeline and the vet had to "go in manually." It was, I imagine, unpleasant for everyone involved.

I have two related anecdotes. First, my dog kirby did the same thing with a popsicle, and we spent a week searching the yard for the poopsicle (just to make sure it came out, and we never did find it). Second, another dog, Gunner, ate an entire dead deer midsection and the rib bones had to be manually removed by the vet using gloved fingers. I'll let you figure that one out.

I was startled awake around 2 a.m. by the wild screams of a cat fight right outside said open window. I looked out to see my Reggie in a ferocious fight with a tabby cat almost twice Reggie's size. I guess if we can tear down the Berlin Wall we can eventually tear down the not so physical walls of intollerance as well. It won't ever go away, but at least someday, this nation that prides itself on being the leader of the free world, can live up to it's own expectations.

Unfortunately the sad fact that most of the emotional walls that people build up are so much stronger than even the Berlin Wall. It is so much harder to change someone's mind than to change their surroundings. All we can do is start with ourselves and go from there. The university I currently attend has a 'offensive odour' (yes, that's odour with a "u") policy. Some people are so sensitive to scents that their throats swell up when standing next to someone who wears too much cologne/perfume.

At my last job, I worked in a little cashier/operator booth. On saturdays, I'd split the shift with this woman who not only wore WHITE PUMPS with JEANS in DECEMBER, but she also wore the most obnoxious cologne...Jontue. And she bought it in the big constant spray bottle. I asked her to PLEASE not wear it (it took me hours to get the stink out) at work. Of course, she was snotty, and I told her if that's what gets the old guys off at the bar, so be it. Just wait till you get to the bar.
Then I sprayed lysol. In front of her.
I don't miss that job. At all. Not even a little bit.
