Her hair is so long. Don't you just love to smash your face into it and inhale deeply?

My son was licking him self once.
I asked him if he tasted good and he said yes.
So I asked him what he tasted like and he said chicken.

So, I missed putting this on yesterday's pic comments (I was too slow)

I think that the posts yesterday were pretty clear about listening to the Day to Day show on NPR... but here's the info I found:
    -------
    *Day to Day*

    Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005
    - A listing of today's stories will be posted at approx. 12:00 p.m ET
    - Audio for today's show will be available at approx. 3:00 p.m. ET
    ---------
And as far as transcripts go, it looks like they charge $4.95 for a transcipt and it is available 10pm ET the same day.

    Got it? gooooood.

    Razdreams,
yeah... well, I would if I could, ya know. Which is ironic because the person I work with has NPR on _all the time_. I could almost hum the theme songs/music for some of their programs.
But today, I think we'll be in the middle of a project right then and I won't be able to get away.

ahhh but all that frustration and misplaced anger suddenly evaporates when I see how delicious Leta is looking these days. When do I get to be an aupair again?

Question for Dooce: are you an early childhood ear piercer?

She is such a cutie, and looks so much like Jon in that picture.

My second daughter was a thumb-sucker, and I got so tired of people saying, "Is that good?" to her, that I finally started making a habit of replying to them, "If you were as sweet as she is, you'd have your hand in your mouth, too!"

  • 38. Dreamer said:

...and surely Dooce will realise her obligations to her ever-growing fan base and record her fifteen minutes of NPR fame and post the WAV file or at least a link, right here on her website (HINT, fingers crossed)...come on people, Heather B Armstrong doesnt mess around!!

I just listened to the interview! (Streamed it at work...hope I don't get Dooced for that.)
I was REALLY hoping to hear some baby babble in the background, but, alas...no.
You sounded great, Dooce. I know you've mentioned before how you hate the sound of your recorded voice (I think everyone hates their own voice on tape), but you really sounded good.

Oh, and I had wondered if the radio guy pronounced his last name WHIner or WEEner. He said WHIner...but you KNOW it's probably really WEEner, and he's just in denial. Heh.

  • 165. Kelli said:

I listened to Heather at work too, streamed online, but I was actually working (really!) while I listened.

You did sound good - I was expecting a much thicker Tenn. accent after all you've said about it. Guess living in other parts of the country really does help to tone down country accents. Thank god.

Love the nummy yummy Leta fingers pic too, btw.

How did my eight year old son end up 1500 miles away from home, in a Dog Park in Utah? And where did he get that freaky hat?

*gives Dooce a standing ovulation for her wunnerful NPR interview* Ya sounded just fine, Heather.

I listened at work, with my boss, so I shouldn't get dooced for it. Interestingly enough, I work for a lawyer, who is now trying to figure out what the legal grounds could be.

Heather didn't sound at all like I would have thought.

I think I would have liked to hear the interview with Dooce all juiced up with her accent.

Oh,and don't worry about pronouncing Dooce wrong, I have been pronouncing Leta wrong the whole time.

You ROCK, Heather. That was a great interview! But for some reason, the whole show's audio was slowed down, like voice altering done for witness protection. So everrrrythnnnng wass slooooooooow and lowwwwww.

Awesome interview! But now I really want to see the Delta airline flight attendant pics (not yours that is, a misconception you have cleared up for us...). Her skirt "rides up"? Hmm, sounds a tad suspicious.

Completely unrelated, but I hear the new jib jab is out (www.jibjab.com) called "Second Term." I'm looking forward to watching it.

So how *do* you prounounce Leta????
And it *is* "duece" sounding? Why does that dissapoint me?

them's some big hands, mom. When i was her age, I could fit my whole fist in my mouth. You should have her see a specialist about her only being able to get three fingers and a thumb in there. Choking on one's own fist builds character.

Well, this has been an especially lovely day here at dooce.com. First, Leta with handsnack. Then dogs-aplenty, PLUS major Leta cheekage -- in the RED HAT, no less -- PLUS AUDIO. And Emily with the puppy lovin' was too dear.

    Thank you, Heather.

  • 200. Meggan said:

Yay! I was hoping for a picture of Leta!

Great interview Heather! I imagined you to have a thick southern accent, but I was wrong. There's just a hint of southern-ism in your diction.

  • 203. Gretchen C. said:

It was interesting to hear you! You have an accent I can't quite place. I expected some Southern, but I didn't hear any. I guess you are probably like me in that way -- I'm originally from New Jersey but only sound like it when extremely drunk.

You came across great. Considering you were under extreme maternal duress during the interview, you did a truly awesome job.

"Heather’s accent (at least when sober) is City Southern (much like my Mom) as opposed to Country Southern (much like all my cousins in Kentucky)."

Right on. I live in Kentucky, so I know exactly what you mean. However, most of the young adults raised in Lexington (early to mid-20s), the city I live in, sound more like Heather than Colonel Sanders. Just an oh-so-slight Southern accent, but people used to it can tell.

Come to think of it, Heather and I sound eerily similar. Yoinks.
