Nothing like waking up to a death threat to make you feel so alive! And refreshed! I'm just glad it didn't come from my mom.

No word yet on whether any of my family members read what I wrote yesterday, or maybe they did and today is the first of many days that they are going to refuse to talk to me. My mother is actually supposed to take Leta for a sleepover tonight, and I'm guessing that when she shows up and knocks on my door I'm going to open it only to find a very skinny, although perfectly manicured middle finger waving in my face. And I'll take that as a sign that everything is okay.

I was going to sit down and write Leta's newsletter today, but suddenly I've got a few hundred emails to get through and there are several hundred comments I have yet to read, and who knows, there may be total anarchy going on over there and I might have to step in and hand out some Valium. In the meantime I thought I'd share two of the songs I have on repeat in my iTunes, and trust me, both of these are great for both Republicans and Democrats who want to just drown out the noise already. Warning, Republicans: One is about sex. Hot, hot sex. But don't worry, I think it's between heterosexuals.

First, Santogold, a song called "L.E.S. Artistes," you'll note the chorus:

Next, Kings of Leon with "Sex on Fire." Holy God, this song is so good. One morning last week it came on the satellite radio when I was taking Leta to school, just as we were pulling into the parking lot, and I totally made her sit there in the backseat so I could listen to the whole thing. And she kept rolling her eyes at me AS IF SHE COULD JUST SIT THERE AND IGNORE ITS BRILLIANCE. WHATEVER.
